Since 2004, the Vastelastenbond has been working to reduce the utilities costs of Dutch households. The focus is on saving money and providing peace of mind in the areas of energy costs, damage insurance, and internet and TV. But larger fixed costs such as mortgages and life insurance are also taken into account. Because customers pay an annual subscription fee, De Vastelastenbond is completely independent and does not rely on compensation from suppliers for any aspect of its work. In addition, the pro activity of the service is striking. Every year, they take the initiative to look for savings and/or improvements for the customer. For example, insurance policies are reviewed annually to check whether the coverage still suits the customer's situation and whether the premium can be reduced. For energy, customers are registered with a new supplier every year because new customers simply get the lowest rates and the highest discounts.
